
The Quality Team Lead drives daily quality operations by supervising process controls, product verification, and
hold and release governance. The role ensures FSMS compliance, timely escalation of issues, and continuous
improvement across the plant. By developing Quality Technicians and embedding Food Safety & Quality Culture,
the Team Lead ensures only safe; compliant products are released to the market.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure FSMS compliance and audit readiness (FSSC, GMP, HACCP, Halal (JAKIM/JAINJ & BPJPH),
Kosher, SNI, USFDA) through validation, documentation accuracy, CAPA effectiveness, and zero NC
performance.
• Safeguard product quality and food safety by verifying compliance to specifications, leading complaint
investigations, supporting COA/testing needs, and providing timely QA support to production.
• Monitors and verifies GMP & sanitation execution on the shopfloor and escalates gaps for correction.
• Maintain SHE and Financial discipline within the Quality function
Safety
• Champion a Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) culture by consistently following safety procedures,
wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintaining calm, orderly work
practices.
• Adherence to the 6 Life-Saving Rules.
• Conduct Behavior Observation Safety (BOS) at required frequency.
• Never compromise safety: “We work safely, or we do not work.”
• Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by understanding work-related hazards and adhering to all
safety instructions.
• Participate actively in Risk Assessment processes as required to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Collaborate with the team to keep the workplace safe, clean, and well-organized, and support colleagues
in working safely.
• Escalate and implement solutions to address risks related to ergonomics and working conditions.
• Report immediately any unsafe situation, substandard condition, near miss, incident, or defect.
• Stop work immediately if safety is at risk or if unsure how to proceed safely and involve the Quality
Manager for guidance.
• Actively participate in Safety discussions during Operations Performance (OPS) meetings.
• Comply with environmental rules regarding the use and disposal of chemicals (e.g., oils, fats) used for
maintenance.
Quality:
1. Leadership of Daily Quality Operations
• Supervise in process controls, product verification, and hold- and- -release governance.
• Organize team structure, allocate jobs, and maintain effective work schedules.
• Represent Quality in daily Production OPS meetings and cross functional- discussions.
• Execute annual quality activities in compliance with the Management System. Manage the Prod-Quality
and Warehouse Meeting on periodic basis & Follow Up with Action Plan
• Quality Representative in the overall project execution from the start (design stage to the
commercialization stage) and provide results sharing to the CQV.
• Engages actively with the Quality Manager through routine communication, proactive identification of
improvement opportunities, and immediate escalation of any quality, food safety, or compliance risks.
• Support Quality Manager to manage respective Q-Team (White & Blue Collar) with effective job
allocation & work schedule align with Quality work plans.
2. Product Release & Compliance Governance
• Authorize product release and act as the primary Quality Representative for compliance with JDE
specifications and customer requirements.
• Manage and perform the QI, Block / Unblock, Rework and Downgrade for finished products through
SAP.
3. FSMS Execution (HACCP, GMP, FSSC 22000)
• Maintain compliance with global standards (FSSC, GMP, HACCP, Halal (JAKIM/JAINJ & BPJPH).
• Contribute to mock recall and traceability exercises as part of the quality team to validate effectiveness.
• Quality Representative in audit preparation, participate in internal/external audits, and ensure timely CAPA
closure.
• Verify and validate CCPs and OPRPs within the plant.
• Conduct CCP, OPRP, and Hold & Release training for production teams.
• Oversee HEM program execution, including routine/ad hoc swabs and air monitoring.
• Provides shopfloor QA oversight to ensure compliance with GMP, sanitation, and pest control
requirements, identifies and escalates operational risks and deviations, enforces proper GMP behaviours,
and supports corrective actions and continuousimprovement with Operations and the GMP System Owner
4. Issue Management & Problem Solving
• Lead /participate in continuous improvement initiatives/corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
against Quality KPI's (consumer, trade and/or customer complaints, Right First Time (RFT) and
specification critical to quality product and process parameters).
• Issue and track corrective actions (CC) and nonconformance reports (NC) until closure.
• Implement and monitor CAPA initiatives against key quality KPIs (e.g., RFT, consumer complaints,
trade feedback).
• Provide solutions on allergen, GMP, Halal, and food safety issues.
• Conduct periodic quality meetings with respective teams to discuss and resolve issues towards quality
requirements.
5. Complaint Management
• Manage customer complaints, escalate issues, and drive timely resolution with corrective actions.
• Monitor complaint trends and drive reduction strategies.
• Ensure timely preliminary as well as investigations feedback as appropriate to the complainant.
• Conduct Risk Assessment (RA) as appropriate to support the operation needs on FSQ point.
6. New Project & Trial Management (NPI, A4E, I4G, Line Trials)
• Represent Quality in new product introductions and line trials.
• Review and approve specifications, ensuring timely distribution to production.
• Conduct annual reviews of material and product documentation.
7. Data Management & Reporting
• Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly Quality KPI updates.
• Report QI, RFT, NC costing, and MOS metrics to global systems.
• Conduct periodic Loss Analysis on Product and Process Quality System and propose for actions to
address the issues for improvements.
• Lead the automation/digitalization program of Quality Plan which aligned with the Global Quality
Systems (Key Super User: SAP, SafeFood360, Hamilton Grant etc.).
• Review the plan schedule for HEM, monthly, yearly, and ad-hoc analysis as required in person by twice
per year and review the results monthly.
• Oversee laboratory instruments, equipment is calibrated, and chemical management is maintained.
8. Hygiene, Environmental Monitoring & Pest Control Verification
• Ensure HEM swab execution, air monitoring, and sanitation program validation.
• Monitor GMP and pest control issues, execute and follow up GMP audit / pest finding with the operation
team.
• Verification & monitor sanitation program execution. Tackle sanitation related issues and review WI related
to sanitation in plant with relevant department.
9. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
• Represent Quality in cross functional- meetings with Operations and Warehouse.
• Resolve interdepartmental issues and ensure win-win- solutions.
10. Proactive Quality Leadership & FSQ Prevention
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, automation/digitalisation programs, and workflow enhancements.
• Lead dissemination of food safety and quality knowledge across the plant.
• Promote FSQ campaigns, workshops, and awareness sessions.
• Ensure preventive measures are embedded to sustain FSQ culture.
11. Documentation & Specification Management
• Develop, update, and maintain SOPs, product specifications, and material documentation.
• Review and approve any new specification updated by the R&D team to ensure formulation card
distribute to production timely.
• Perform annual updates for material documentation.
• Perform Semi-Finished Products, Recipe and Finished Products Specification Review against
specification and best practices for newly registered products.
• Ensure new incoming materials meet approved specifications and artwork requirements.
• Authorize issuance of Quality document including COA
12. Proactive Risk Management & FSQ Prevention
• Conduct proactive risk assessments (RA) for processes and materials, when necessary, as per HACCP
principle.
• Identify potential risks in GMP, sanitation, allergen control, and pest management highlight and implement
actions to address the issues.
• Implement preventive measures to strengthen food safety and quality culture.
• Execute quality systems according to Quality Pillar requirements, aligned with global standards.
• Undertake continuous training and self-development, identifying opportunities for improvement in quality
systems.
• Responsible for competency development and routine work quality of Quality Technicians.
• Assess FSQ culture maturity at defined frequencies and report results to management.
• Promote FSQ activities such as campaigns, workshops, and awareness sessions to strengthen plant culture.
• Participate in FSQ culture assessments to gauge maturity levels.
13. Quality Culture & Operational Engagement
• Attend MOS Pillar meetings; contribute to robustness implementation and checks and RCA effectiveness.
• Execute Quality system including but not limited to Pro-Start, RFT, CTQ, QA Matrix and QX Matrix
according to Quality Pillar requirement, aligned with Global requirement.
• Drive quality improvements
• Provide monthly QI, RFT and NC Costing Calculation & Reporting to Global
• Execute Process Control CTQ
• Support Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) activities to deliver Food Safety/Quality Culture
engagement and ongoing improvements Verify implementation of actions including lessons learned from
other manufacturing plants. Drive horizontal expansion of improvement ideas in the plant across lines and
embed in OPLs or standards.
• Deliver induction/refresher training for new joiners, contractors, and shop floor associates.
• Share food safety topics and awareness programs to build competency.
14. Financial & Operational Responsibilities
• Monitor AOP, OPEX, and CAPEX within the Quality team, enforcing the principle of “No PO, No Work”
for all expenditures.
• Ensure strict financial discipline to prevent overspending and maintain compliance with organizational
requirements.
• Assume responsibilities as assigned by management and contribute to organizational ad hoc tasks
when required.
• Submit overtime (OT) requests in a timely manner with proper justification for Manager approval.
• Coordinate on schedule and overtime (OT) for Quality team member and approve on-time.
15. Continuous Learning & Team Competence
• Coach and mentor Quality Technicians to achieve KPIs and career growth.
• Identify and drive opportunities for improvement in quality systems and training programs.
• Facilitate competence development of Quality Technicians and team members through coaching and
knowledge transfer.
• Engage and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on quality and compliance matters.
16. Quality Oversight & Authority
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on quality and compliance matters.
• Contribute to organizational ad hoc tasks related to quality improvement and compliance.
• Exercise authority to stop the production line when food safety or quality issues arise.

Education:
University Degree (Bachelors) or higher in Food Science, Food Technology,
Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related field.
Experience:
7+ years' experience in Manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of quality and food safety standards and practices (ISO/
FSSC 22000, IFS, HACCP, GMP).
Good team leadership, communication, analytical and networking
skills.
Knowledge in statistical applications Ability to problem solve with
high accuracy and decision quality.
Languages: Local - Fluent; English - Intermediate.
